Case a) Same product, different origin:

In a barcode, the first digits indicate the country where the product is manufatured. Therefore, if I manufature the same product in different countries, I will have diferent barcodes, but the product is the same product.

Case b) Same product, different quantities.

This happens mainly with DUN 14 barcodes. It is used to indicate different packing and normaly different quantity of the same product.

Per example, boxes of 12 units and boxes with 10 boxes of 12 units use diferent DUN14 barcode.

Case c) This happens mainly with free use EAN13 barcodes (Starting with 2).

Per example, I have a client that has several warehouses, and each of them has its own ERP.

When they buy products with no-barcode, they code it themselves with a barcode starting with 20 , followed with warehouse number, and followed with the internal product code of that warehouse of 8 digits. So the final format of the barcode is:

20WWDDDDDDDDC.

When by any eason, this products coded at warehouse 01 is sent to warehouse 02, they do not print again a new set of barcodes, they only add the new barcode to the list of barcodes of the product.
